No Personal Data Collected AI Dark Mode Explorer operates entirely on your local machine. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information. We do not track your browsing behavior, search history, or personal usage statistics. There are no analytics libraries, cookies, or remote tracking scripts bundled within the extension. 2. API Communication and Key Safety (BYOK) AI Dark Mode Explorer is a "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) extension. Your API key is stored securely in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local). The extension only uses this API key to make direct HTTPS calls to the generative AI models endpoint provided by Google AI Studio (https://generativelanguage.googleapis.com). No intermediary servers or third-party gateways are used. Your API key and requests remain between your local browser and the generative AI endpoint. 3. Permissions Used To function properly, the extension requests the following permissions: activeTab: Used to capture a temporary screenshot of the page you are currently looking at ONLY when you click the "AI Optimize" button. This screenshot is sent directly to the AI endpoint to generate styling values and is immediately discarded. It is never saved or stored. storage: Used to save your API key and cache your custom dark mode filter values (invert, brightness, contrast, sepia, custom CSS overrides) on a per-site basis so they load instantly on repeat visits. scripting: Used to apply the CSS filter stylesheet to your webpage. 4. Third-Party Services When using AI Mode, webpage screenshots are analyzed by your configured generative model endpoint. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy regarding generative API data processing (generally, API data is not used to train models, but you should review Google AI Studio's terms for confirmation). 5.
